Putting on the Ritz recently had the pleasure of catering Dominique and Juan’s wedding at Dumbarton House located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Completed around 1800, Dumbarton House is a beautiful, federal style mansion listed on the National Register of Historic Places. With almost an acre of beautifully landscaped lawns and gardens, Dumbarton House is the perfect choice for an elegant, classic wedding. There are lovely locations for an outdoor ceremony and the 200-year old trees, magnolia blossoms and winding stone walkways, create the perfect backdrops for photographs that will be cherished for a lifetime.
With so many family and friends wanting to join in their celebration, Dominique and Juan’s guest list continued to grow. But, Dumbarton House was able to accommodate additional invitees allowing the couple to tent the patio just outside of the Belle Vue Room and accommodating their 120 guests.
Mother Nature provided the perfect afternoon for their outdoor ceremony on the back lawn and the bridesmaids looked lovely in their yellow dresses which were the perfect choice for this summer Dumbarton House wedding.
Following the ceremony, guests moved to the terrace where our waiters passed coconut shrimp, jerk beef skewers, scallops wrapped in bacon and Putting on the Ritz’s New York Strip Shooters with thinly sliced New York strip steak and our famous garlic mashed potatoes drizzled with a cabernet reduction, gorgonzola crumbles and crispy fried leek garnish. Dinner showcased a served meal with the guests selecting either the ever-so-popular, local favorite jumbo lump crab cakes or honey and almond coated chicken.
The Dumbarton House wedding reception sparkled with tasteful decorations by DaVinci. Centerpieces on the tables included hundreds of yellow orchids, multi-tiered vases, floating candles and crystal candelabras and soft up-lighting created drama and a sophisticated look. Gold-beaded charger plates and custom-printed menus adorned each place setting.
Following dinner, guests danced the night away while enjoying specialty cocktails at the bar and taking candids at the photo booth. At the end of the evening, a special surprise awaited guests who were given individually boxed Georgetown Cupcakes as a favor. Guests left Dominique and Juan’s Washington D.C. wedding saying, “That was the best wedding I have ever attended.” We couldn’t agree more!
