Kara & Andy were married at a Howard County Wedding Venue, the Historic Savage Mill Manor House on a beautiful summer day. The couple met when they were away at college and started dating after a few years of knowing each other. Their relationship took a very serious turn, when on their first anniversary, Kara suddenly had to be rushed to the emergency room. Andy was by her side every chance he had. When he did have to return home, he would call and play their favorite Beatles song, “When I’m Sixty Four” over the phone to her. Thankfully, Kara made a complete and full recovery.
Fast forward to their engagement when the wedding planning began. Both Andy and Kara wanted small – as in a courthouse with a few family members present. Fortunately, it was at that time that their families discovered the Historic Savage Mill Manor House, a gorgeous Howard County wedding venue and the wonderful staff at Putting on the Ritz. They were able to work with our team to design a Maryland themed wedding, perfectly suited to Andy and Kara, being University of Maryland Terrapin fans and all. So on a lovely early summer evening, surrounded by a large group of family and friends at the outdoor wedding ceremony area at the Historic Savage Mill Manor House, Andy and Kara became Mr. & Mrs. Their bright smiles and laughter filled the evening – you have never seen a happier bride and groom!
Kara & Andy’s Wedding Menu:
The Cocktail Hour consisted of Bultered-Style Hors D’oeuvres including Mini Crab Cakes, Caprese Skewers, Coconut Shrimp, and Asiago Beef Fajitas.
Reception Dinner served at the Buffet including a Hand Carved New York Strip Steak, Chicken Bruschetta, Bowtie Pasta tossed in a homemade Vodka Cream Sauce, Roasted Red Potatoes with Rosemary & Thyme, and a fresh array of Wood Grilled Vegetables.
Instead of having the traditional three tier wedding cake, the couple decided to have a small cake to cut and a beautiful Cupcake Tower provided by our very own chef at POTR!
“The successful and wonderful event was a testament to POTR, especially Stephanie Le, who helped make the event so personal and special and gave all of us lifelong memories, the very way a wedding should.” – Jean, Mother of the Groom
Both Andy and Kara reflected on what a perfect night it was and how happy they were that they agreed to a wedding celebration at the gorgeous Howard County wedding venue, surrounded by all the people who love them. For the couple’s first dance as husband and wife, the same Beatles song Andy had played over the phone to Kara years ago… How sweet is that?! And the icing on the cake? They are now expecting a baby girl early next spring! Dreams DO come true!
Putting on the Ritz wishes you and your families a lifetime filled with love, joy, and happiness!
Thanks for the beautiful flower arrangements and providing us with the darling couple’s backstory Jean! And a special thanks to Nina K Photography for all of these beautiful memories!
