I first talked to Paul and Ally just three short months before their wedding when their original caterer fell through. We worked out a great station-style menu for their wandering cocktail-style party. They had planned a four-hour reception so we didn’t want to waste any time. Putting on the Ritz had all of the stations open upon the arrival of the first guests at the Decatur House, a beautiful Washington D.C. wedding venue located directly across the street from the White House. What a view!
The couple rented a striking tent for their Decatur House wedding reception. It covered the back patio creating a great place for the band, Bachelor Boys, who kept everyone dancing through the night.
Paul and Alley’s family and friends enjoyed our gourmet pasta table with fresh ingredients sautéed tableside with their choice of pasta and sauce. For the meat lovers, Putting on the Ritz had our signature Short Ribs served in a martini glass with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Crispy Fried Leek garnish. A BBQ Shrimp and Grits Station was on hand for the seafood enthusiasts and passed bite-size treats and a farmer’s market table with fresh vegetables, cheeses and fruit rounded out the menu.
As almost every great Italian wedding goes, a few (thousand) homemade cookies were provided by the family which guests enjoyed throughout the evening. This turned out to be the second wedding I catered for the groom’s side and the cookies were every bit as plentiful and delicious as they were the last. Yes, I did eat a couple, purely for quality control, or as our Chef likes to say…quantity control!
All in all, it was a historic event at a historic Washington D.C. wedding venue the Decatur House.
