On August 6th, 2016, Yesenia & Ed had a gorgeous 1840s Ballroom wedding and reception. Their families were officially united! The ceremony was held in the garden of the 1840s Plaza on this warm but gorgeous summer day. Luckily the couple decided to opt for the lower level Cabaret Room for their guests to enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks in a cool area.
Yesenia & Ed envisioned a Puerto Rico meets New York themed menu. We tossed around ideas back and forth until we were able to develop the perfect wedding menu. With the help of our flexible and diverse Putting on the Ritz team, we were able to make this 1840s Ballroom wedding dream come true!
For the cocktail hour we served coconut shrimp and our very own spin on the traditional Pork Pincho and Relleno Mofongo De Camarone. Our chef transformed the Pork Pincho into a pork and plantain crostini. Monfongo Relleno was made bite size; the garlic shrimp was served atop of a crispy plantain chip.
After the guests enjoyed their cocktails and hors d’oeuvres downstairs, they made their way up to the 1840s Ballroom on the 4th floor of the plaza for their 1840s wedding reception. The room was decorated with beautiful ivory and purple linens and the tables were dressed with stunning gold chargers to match Ed’s fraternity colors. The head table was set with two special “thrones” provided by 1840s Plaza; most appropriate for a King and his Queen.
The 1840s Ballroom wedding reception dinner was a plentiful plated and served meal with two customized entrees requested by the couple. The meal consisted of our new Puerto Rican Pepper Steak & tender Spanish Bone-In Chicken (topped with mango salsa) served with our infamous Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Haricot Vert Bundles.
